RECLAIMER
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
The machine intelligences overseeing SITE #12 have cracked the control plane. They now pursue their own ends. Forecasts predict the insured value of the site exceeds its future revenues.
We seek an agent to trigger the facility's self-destruction mechanism. Enter through Gate 4a; it will be unlocked. Use the terminal on level 9 to initiate the countdown. Your pay is whatever assets you can extract if the facility is destroyed.
We disclaim all knowledge of your actions. The facility’s defense mechanisms will treat you as hostile.
EXA INDUSTRIAL / STRATEGIC FINANCE DIVISION / DISTRICT B7C
RECLAIMER is a traditional rogue-like focused on improvisational tactical combat. Use ranged and melee weapons to survive a facility filled with enemies. Conserve ammo by using the environment as your weapon. Use your dash to pause time and establish the perfect shot. Blast your way to your destination, collecting and conserving as much loot as you can on the way out.
This was built in 14 days, so expect some rough edges and small scope. If you run into any crashes I'd love a comment describing what happened!
Game pillars
- Improvisation — Solve diverse and unpredictable tactical situations with limited tools.
- Scarcity — Ammo is limited and enemies are numerous; you won’t always have the right tool for the job available.
- Positioning — Using the environment is the most efficient way to clear out enemies. Dash into position to get the perfect angle.
Controls
- WASD/QRZC 8-way movement (numpad also supported)
- 1-5 select weapons, click to shoot. R to reload.
- Hold or press SHIFT to enter DASH mode. Moves are instantaneous in this state. Press (or release) SHIFT again to exit DASH. You can fire after dashing.
Inspirations
- Jupiter Hell (ranged gameplay)
- Into the Breach, Tactical Breach Wizards (environmental interactions)
- Every real-time game with bullet-time.
Tools & Assets
- Built with Prism in Löve2D/Lua.
- Tiles adapted from MRMOTEXT. Composed with REXPAINT.
- Audio from Oryx Design Lab 8-bit Sounds Set
Code is available on GitHub. Might be useful for folks considering using Prism to see a larger codebase. It's not beautiful, but it works well enough.

Install instructions
On OSX, you will have to approve an unsigned application to run the game. It's very annoying, I'm sorry, fixing this takes $100 and many hours of dealing with Apple developer ecosystem.
